One of the most important things we can do as caretakers of the clothes-free world is critical of how nudity is used in the entertainment world. We should never champion nudity for the sake of nudity. The perfect example of this is the world of porn their use of nudity is exploitive, harmful and 180 degrees from our cause. On the other side of the coin, entertainment companies expand on the “nudity = sex” fallacy when they try to hide nudity when it should be completely natural. How many times have we seen a person reach for the towel before they exit a shower when they are alone in the home or the perfectly placed flower pot. The “clever” concealment of the body does more harm than good. We’ve compiled a shortlist of movies, shorts, and commercials that use the naked body in very positive ways. Some directly advance our world and some just use the naked body in a fun and realistic way. We know there are many other fine examples, these are just ones that show nudity in a different way. None of these examples use nudity in an exploitive or harmful way and all show us in a positive light.
Educating Julie
Educating Julie is the absolutely kin… oops, queen of clothes-free centric movies. The story about a young woman, shy in nature, who gets a college assignment to talk about nudity in the 80’s. The movie is well done, great acting, good story and as wholesome as you can get. It does touch on the “adult” nature of nudity, but just to contrast it against the clothes-free world. Educating Julie educates on the history of nude recreation. The movie has families, couples, single, and shows people of all ages enjoying this amazing world of ours. The Nudist Story
This is another fantastic clothes-free centric movie that does a wonderful job of explaining our world. It was made in 1960 and it shows our world in a positive and uplifting way. The theme is similar to others, it involves a young woman who does not know anything about the clothes-free world, but is forced to confront it. Her initial thoughts are negative, but after experiencing it, she does a complete 180 and falls in love with the experience. The movie in itself is also very enjoyable to watch, it’s well made, the acting is top-notch and even has a sub-story. This is one to recommend to anyone who wants an introduction to the clothes-free world.
Into The Mud
Into the mud is a perfect example of using nudity when it appropriate to show it. One thing our entertainment world does that I can never understand is to spend time and money covering a person up when they are in a situation that is perfectly normal for them to be naked. This short is a great example of using nudity appropriately without sensationalizing. The short is also very entertaining with a more realistic spin on a mythical character.
Naked Zombie Girl
This is a fun one. Now, in reality (<- yeah, I get the irony of using that word in a zombie movie) there really is no reason for the woman to be naked in this movie, so it could be considered sexploitation. The reason I don’t think it is, there are no shots that exploit the actress, Meghan Chadeayne’s body. There is full frontal and rear nudity, but no focus on genitals. It really is just a well-done zombie short. Nudity is allowed to be fun, it still does not make it sexual.
Naked town
This is a fun little short that switches things up. It uses everyday people doing everyday things, but naked. All seems well until a man is given a pair of pants. We like this because it’s fun, with a little bit of a dark ending. There is no sexuality to it and proof that the average human can be shown naked and still make a great short. We can’t find too much information on this one. It looks like an extended commercial for jeans. There is a URL at the end, colorado-denim.com, but the site is not active.
Elave Commercial
This is a commercial for Elave skincare and a great example of using nudity as a tool to sell a product without the use of sexuality. Some will complain that all the people are attractive and in good shape, but let's not forget that this is a marketing tool. The important part to notice is, everyone in the commercial is naked and it's 100% non-sexual. Our only gripe might be the focus in on some gentiles, but even then, it's to emphasize that the product is gentle on ALL areas of the body. The actress, Tyler Jane, comes across as very comfortable and the end is perfect. For those makers out there, this is how you use nudity to sell a product.
